Songs not on Dozin' should still be here....
Most of the songs from this show aren't on te commercial release, like landmark versions like Loser, Help->Slip->Franklins, etc. While the Aud's are OK, they aren't good on a house stereo.
Just because other songs from two other shows at Knickerbocker are on the commercial release, doesn't mean that quality recordings of great (and unique) versions should be lost forever...Songs that weren't released commercially should remain in the archive!

In absolute agreement
The Loser is other-wordly as the previous reviewer states. The energy on this night and much of this run and tour is, IMHO, top notch dead.

In the mid 80's, my dear friend Nino was the spiritual leader of sorts amongst a group of friends in Albany. I had seen 70's shows, but the energy evolved again with the Richmond Gloria. From there we were 30 - 40 strong all in Albany. Traveling to Providence and Hampton, you name it. The dead took notice of us, most emphatically at one of the Philly Spectrum shows when at least 35 of us lit sparklers 15-20 feet from the stage and the place went wild. We were lucky enough as I was a Chef in Albany for 6 years and my contactrs called and told us as the Dead were checking into the Desmond Americana. God how lucky a small group of us greeted Bobby and entourage with a bottle of Dom Perignon. These shows were more than special. Download this if not for the whole show, but the LOSER,. oh the LOSER. Enjoy.

best first set i ever had the pleasure to take part in!
i was the only one of my quartet to have a ticket. i went to my seat in section 222 with a great drinkin and smokin'buzz, only to find out that it was a sidestage seat-jerry/brent side. oh,what's that in front of me-a big rack of speakers hangin' from the roof, pointed towards my section.hey, nice view of the stage...what's that buddy behind me;do i know how to roll?anyways,we meet the next day in the parking lot and gave each other a big hug and knew, that from our section- that really didn't fill up until the second set-and,with the sound comin'off the stage with that rack hangin'...well, we knew we were dealt a royal flush.one of my friends came and found me and brought me to the floor for the second set ,really close too,but all the magic was left in section 222.do yourself a favor and download this first set, and since you can't get the SBD,difinetly get the AUD,probally sounds better anyways, with the crowd and the band on the crest of the wave.

Better Version than Dozin Knick
Something is going on in the cyber universe that is making the dead sound of Dick's Pick's into the DEAD sound of the shows and audio soundboards. I was here and saw my first heads get into a knockdown dragout. Knick was a great venue. The show speaks to a cold upstate New York crowd that helped lead the band to a metal tinged zinger of a performance. Once again the Dead had transformed itself into another entity with help from its friends.
